The Dingley Village Community Advice Bureau Inc (DVCAB) is a not-for-profit impartial and independent community based information and support service.

Aims

Provide services in response to community need and remain pertinent

Accurate information, direct help and advocacy to people in times of need

Assist people to develop the skills which enable them to gain greater power over their lives

Develop partnerships with other organisations to actively promote an agenda of social justice
Initiate and participate in action to bring about a just and equitable society

Maintain a strong preventive approach to management of welfare issues within the community

Be team-oriented, have integrity, co-operate with fellow workers and volunteers, be confidential for our clients, respect privacy rights, not be judgmental, be sensitive to other people and their needs, show understanding and respect

To provide direct services to assist disadvantaged individuals and families to meet their immediate needs with the view to empower and facilitate their independence.

We will be an agency that supports families and individuals in need and offer or provide alternative development skills.

Objectives

Provide aid and assistance for the relief of distress, poverty or misfortune of individuals and families in the community.

Free, impartial and confidential support, information and referral services to all members of the community.

Emergency relief and material aid to families in order to avoid a situation of poverty. The benchmark income is the disposable income required to support the basic needs of a family.

Counselling to people with complex issues.
